Kilkenny Tourism striving to attract even more visitors to Ireland’s Medieval City

The Island of Ireland is promoted across the world and each village, town, city and county has its own unique selling point. This year, there was a more aggresive than ever focus on the national market as travel restrictions and Government advise encouraged Irish people to stay at home. This advise was headed by much of the population and so we “staycationed” like never before.

Kilkenny has always been to the fore in promoting itself and with justifiable pride has long been an industry leader in making the city a genuine destination. What’s more, it’s delivered on its promise. How has this been achieved?

Colin Ahern is the Hotel Representative on, and former Chairman of Kilkenny Tourism. He spoke to Ger Sweeney recently on Ger’s irish radio programme on Spain-based Talk Radio Europe about the promotion of Kilkenny and the many wonderful experiences that await visitors. Here the interview below.
