In sunny Malaga last week 24 women artists from Ireland, Spain and Sweden gathered in a city centre hotel to commence work on an EU initiative ,called Centre Stage, that has been over 18 months in the planning.
Centre Stage is a European collaborative project for professional women artists in the performing arts and music. The programme aims to contribute to positive change at both individual and structural levels for women performing artists in Europe.
There are three elements to the programme and in Malaga work commenced on the first of those. The gathered artists were chosen from each of their home countries and in Ireland’s case, Dublin based Theatre Forum is the co-ordinating body. Ger Sweeney met with Anna Walsh, Director of Theatre Forum and its Manager, Irma McLoughlin to find out more about Cetre Stage and Theatre Forum.
