In 2019 the Clare 250 Mile Cycle reached its 40 year milestone. Since its inception the cycle has included and benefited the entire county of Clare. It has raised funds to bring either children with disability or cancer patients to Lourdes on an annual basis.
Until the mid 1980s the Clare 250 Mile Cycle funded the Killaloe Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes for children with disability. In the interview below with Emer Dunne from the Clare 250 Cancer Centre you will hear the reason for the shift and how the Clare 250 Mile Cycle became the primary source of funding for the newly established Clare 250 Cancer Centre which is based just outside Ennis and the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes for Cancer patients from across County Clare.
There is always a need for help in funding the Centre and Emer explains how to contact them if one feels that assistance can be given. Likewise, there is always a welcome for cancer patients at the Centre and again Emer outlines how that can be availed of.
