There are two very special days in the calendar of every Irish person – St. Patrick’s Day and All Ireland Hurling Final day. That is the view of Clare Champion Sports Reporter Derrick Lynch.
On Sunday afternoon (18th August) Kilkenny and Tipperary will go head to head in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final at Croke Park in Dublin. There is sure to be a capacity crowd of over 80,000 in the stadium for the 3.30pm throw in. There will be millions tuned into television, radio and online feeds across the world.
There is great rivalry between the two teams and a lot of history between them. People are being asked to “call it” and there is clearly a very divided opinion among those who voice their choice.
Derrick Lynch spoke to Ger Sweeney recently about the importance of All Ireland Sunday to Irish people and what could possibly happen on the day over the 70 minutes of play. Hear it below.
