On December 14th Ennis Street Radio will be filling our streets with the sound of Christmas. This is the 8th year of the Street Radio and this year there are some exciting developments coming.
Across the town in December there are a number of events happening and Ennis Street Radio will provide the musical backdrop for these. Due to popular demand the radio will also be available online this year so traders and members of the public can listen in store and at home. The online feeed can be heard at http://www.emeraldconnection.net
As has been the case since its inception Ennis Street Radio will be operated by local broadcaster Ger Sweeney and his team. To enhance the format this year Ger plans to be on the streets with his microphone to chat to shoppers and find out a little about their festive plans. Requests and Christmas greetings will be gathered and recorded from members of the public and these will be broadcast at specific times of the day so they can be heard in Ennis and farther afield through the online feed.
The online feed through the Emerald Connection will be enhanced by the site’s social media platforms with regular updates from across the town.
There will be local/community announcements throughout on the Street Radio again this year and that will include parking updates, events being held for charities and other local happenings.
As in past years Ennis Street Radio is part funded by the Ennis Municipal District of Clare County Council and the traders of the town through Ennis Chamber of Commerce.
The service will commence each day at 9am. The only exceptions to this are Sundays when it commences at 1pm and Christmas Eve when it will commence earlier to accompany the early shoppers.
