Over the past 15 years the Irish Fleadh Cáceres has grown in strength and popularity. The 2018 installment of the Fleadh will kick off on October 25th and promises to be another mighty event.
The programme of events was announced at a ceremony at the Irish Embassy in Madrid recently and on Monday 15th October Peter Crann, one of the Musical Directors of the Irish Fleadh Cáceres joined Ger Sweeney on the Irish Programme, Live on Eire on Talk Radio Europe. Here is here…..
Peter has given us a sneak preview of the programme which includes live performances, concerts, cinema, sessions, an exhibition and workshops on various topics and other special happenings. One of the workshops is already causing some excitement as it looks at linguistics and how the Irish language impacts on how we speak English.
Artists lined up to wow the crowds over the four days include Rare Folk, the Stolen Notes, Friel Sisters, Paddy Keenan & Alan Burke, Shelly Valley and Kila. On Sunday morning there is a massive session on the steps of the main square in Cáceres which will be spectacular. This will be attended by tutors, musicians, artists, members of the public and will, Peter estimate see over 200 musicians taking part. he remarks that this is always a fabulous event and it is so difficult to drag the participants away to catch their flights home to Ireland.
